We know, we know. You’re staying home from spring break and have nothing to do. Don’t fret; there are countless things to do in the Chicagoland Area to entertain you. spring break this year runs from March 27th to April 3rd. That gives anyone a chance to do so much in the Chicago area. From going to the city or staying in the suburbs, all of these fun stay-cation activities give everyone multiple chances to be entertained
First on the list is Escape House Chicago, located in the heart of downtown Chicago at 54 E Ontario for $35 per person. It is most fun when you are in a group of 5 or more. In order to attend, though, you need to have a parent or guardian 18 or older if you are younger than 18. Reservations need to be made in advance at the Escape House’s website. The Escape House features famous rooms to escape from, such as the Oval Office. The Escape House is a room that you are put into with your friends to attempt to escape from with only the clues given. This will provide an extremely eventful experience for you and your friends.
We all went to the Lizzardo Museum of Lapidary Art when we were little, but at that age, we didn’t notice it’s beauty. Conveniently located in the heart of Elmhurst at Wilder Park, the Lizzardo Museum features many ornate rocks and designs that are breathtaking. It is FREE admission on Friday’s, which provides an even better reason to go. If you can’t go on Friday, it is still conveniently priced at $3 for students. It features beautiful rocks and artwork right at your fingertips. The Lizzadro Museum is the perfect place to go if you’re bored and have nothing to do at home.
Lastly, the place you either love or hate: the movie theater. There are countless movie theaters in the western suburbs. From the classic York Theatre, situated in Elmhurst, to the luxurious AMC theater
in Oakbrook Center. The most classic of theaters, York, is a bit expensive, but is conveniently located and features numerous new movies. Movies such as Beauty and the Beast and Kong: Skull Island make this theater a hot spot for students. If you’re feeling adventurous and luxurious, go check out the brand new AMC theater in the Oakbrook Center. It features reclining leather seats with the highest variety of food. Although it is expensive, people who are home from spring break need some luxury during their break.
If you are staying home from Spring Break, don’t fret; many other people are in the same boat as you are. Grace Maietta, freshman, is a veteran when it comes to entertaining herself over spring break in Elmhurst.
“I’ve learned the ins and outs of Elmhurst because of it,” said Maietta. “I always plan to hang out with friends who are also staying home. I look to go on daily trips and usually stop in the city and do all the tourist attractions I never get to do.”
Overall, don’t be worried if you aren’t doing anything for spring break. There are countless things to do here in Elmhurst and surrounding areas.
