Learn a new language in Sign Language Club

Sign Language Club has started up once again.

The club is open for all students and provides a welcoming environment for learning sign language.

Activities for this year’s meetings are still being thought up but will most likely follow in the footsteps of last year’s activities.

The club commonly plays games incorporating sign language that help students get to know each other and the language.  Occasionally the members watch an episode of “Switched at Birth,” a TV show with deaf characters and, of course, sign language.

The club is very interactive; it’s not like a classroom.  Everyone gets to know each other and work together as one group.

Last year the club ended with a silent dinner.  Communication was solely through sign language, gestures, and writing.  It was a great way to sum up what the members had learned and also shows how close the club members come to be.

Mrs. Westendorf is the sponsor and the club meets every Wednesday from 3:15-4:15 in room A294.
