York honors 2016 Dukes of Distinction
On Thursday and Friday, York honored seven Dukes of Distinction, alumni who distinguished themselves through significant career and community contributions. These noteworthy graduates returned to York to share their accomplishments and memories with students, faculty, staff and community members.
The 2016 Dukes of Distinction are:
Dan Konopka — Class of 1993
Jack Lavin — Class of 1980
Judd Lofchie — Class of 1976
Terri Lomnicki — Class of 1974
Barbara Kegerrei Lunde — Class of 1955
O. Robert Nottelmann — Class of 1943
Allan Tereba — Class of 1965
On Thursday evening the formal induction ceremony took place in the York Commons, with each alum being recognized for his or her accomplishments and given an opportunity to speak about their achievements as well as their time at York.
The ceremony was incredible,” Principal Erin DeLuga said. “We all left the Commons last night feeling inspired to be better people.”
On Friday, they addressed students in the auditorium about the impact York had on their current success.
“When they talked, you could really hear them speak about how York really is a great school and how they got a lot of what they do from York,” said Clayton Letourneau, sophomore.
After the presentations in the auditorium, each alum visited classes associated with his or her carer. They shared with students the values York taught them, which set them on the path to success.
