Under the Monocle: Tekki Lomnicki
On Nov. 4, the six Dukes of Distinction headed to school with the students to relive their days here at York, as well as speak to a portion of the student body during periods two and three.
In our second installment of the “Under the Monocle: Dukes of Distinction Edition,” we introduce you to Tekki Lomnicki, class of 1974.
While here during the day, Lomnicki visited English and choir classes to speak with the students about her time here at York and how much her teachers and academics affected her in her life after graduating.
“I’ve realized after I became a play-write that I have now become my high school drama teacher,” said Lomnicki at the presentation for the student body. “He even still helps me out with my plays now!”
All of the students she visited felt like they had been changed for the better by what she said and what she experienced here at York.
Jacki Riek, a sophomore, saw Ms. Lomnicki in her 10H English class.
“I thought she was really cool!” Riek said. “She said they had a lot less activities at York back in her day, which made me realize how much more I could be doing. She was really sweet and funny and made me see how much is given to us here to make our futures great!”
Lomnicki relishes everything she has learned here from her honors English classes to the many York Productions she helped out with.
Her favorite memory? “I was Homecoming Queen senior year!”
Madeleine DeGrace is a senior on staff. This is her fourth year in a journalism class, and she loves it. She is editor in chief of the 100 year yearbook...
