Promising start for the Lady Dukes
The girls basketball season is in full swing after a successful season-opening tournament for the Lady Dukes.
In the 5th Annual York Thanksgiving Tournament, the varsity team finished in third place with a record of 3-1. In addition to third place, junior Danielle Dennis was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Despite a tough loss against tournament champions, Trinity, the Lady Dukes showed their grit in their impressive victories against opponents Niles West, Prospect, and Conant.
Such a prominent start is why the players have high hopes for the rest of the season.
“Our goals are to win conference, for our team to improve as a whole, and to make the most out of this season,” said Mia Varzino, senior.
The Varsity Girls Basketball team is already taking steps to achieve these goals. On Tues. Nov. 29, the Lady Dukes defeated Lyons Township, making them 1-0 in the West Suburban Silver Conference.
Make sure to come out and support the Lady Dukes at their upcoming home games, including conference opponent Hinsdale Central on Dec. 6 and the Paint the Gym Purple game against Glenbard West on Dec. 10.
