“Nothing Was the Same” reaches expected predictions
After four years in the music spotlight, Drake smashes the predictions again with his third studio album “Nothing Was the Same,” released on September 24, 2013. Drake describes this album as “an album that you have to listen to front to back and then go over and listen to it again.” This is a pretty bold statement considering his last album, “Take Care” won a Grammy Award for best rap album; however, Drake has definitely proven himself in his latest album.
Before many people even listen to a rap album, they just assume it’s a bunch of random words that don’t connect to an overall point. However, in this album Drake has really opened up and has incorporated more meaningful lyrics.
“Drake does a great job at sharing his thoughts and feelings through his lyrics, especially in this album,” junior Brad Muno said. “He uses the combination of rapping and singing to express different emotions which makes the feel of the whole album really cool.”
After being in the music business for a few years now, Drake has fully matured and he is comfortable showing a more sensitive side of himself through his raps. He does a great job at incorporating emotional and soulful rhymes with the quick, strong, and intense skills of a rapper to try and please a variety of people.
“Drake has really transitioned into making music that has a deeper meaning. His overall message isn’t just about money and drugs, but it expresses true emotions he has had toward different situations he has overcome. This allows him to reach a new audience,” junior Audrey Kosman said.
Overall, this is Drake’s best piece of work to date. While the previous albums have graced audiences with his creativity and talent, “Nothing Was the Same” has definitely proven the predictions to be true.
