York Varsity Boys Basketball showcased a lot of young talent throughout their 2016-2017 season, considering there were four sophomore players on the team. Sam Walsh, sophomore, was a starter throughout the season. The York-hi spoke with Walsh to find out his thoughts on basketball and his past season

TIY: What made you start playing basketball?

Walsh: I grew up with a sports background. Both my parents played a college sport and all my siblings did as well. So I basically just followed in their footsteps.

TIY: How long have you been playing?

Walsh: I’ve been playing since I was a little kid. Most of my life has been basketball.

TIY: How do you train?

Walsh: I go to the gym and shoot for an hour or so and lift.

TIY: What team were you on last year?

Walsh: I was on the Freshman A team last year.

TIY: What was your favorite part of the season?

Walsh: My favorite part of the season was the buzzer beater to beat Hinsdale Central at home. I also liked the team dinners.
