Art Survey mural celebrates unity
You may have walked by the second floor atrium and noticed a painting on the wall. This mural was completed last week by the Art Survey class.
Art Survey is a class about unity and creativity, and may be unknown to many people. The class meets each day in their first floor art classroom to work on various projects.
“Art survey is a class where we use student leaders that work with special needs kids,” said Art Survey teacher Mr. Edgley. “It is usually half and half, and they work together on a variety different projects.”
Art Survey works on a mix of art projects throughout the course of the class. They work together daily and use the diversity of the class to learn from each other.
“The class is half special needs students and half regular education students,” said Edgley. “We wanted to combine different abilities and make a universal mural.”
Although not all students have the same artistic abilities, the entire mural came together to create one expressive piece.
“As you will notice, some things are very fine and developed, and other things are looser,” said Edgley.
With this being the first time this class created a mural, everyone was hoping for an amazing end result. The artists were pleased with the outcome and the unity it represents.
“We thought let’s try this out and see what will end up happening,” said Edgley. “It turned out great and gave the art survey students something to be super proud of.”
