MET Gala 2019 “Camp: Notes on Fashion”

The 2019 MET Gala hosted many celebrities from Lady Gaga and newlywed couple Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas to Billy Porter and many more as they expressed their own interpretation of this years theme– “Camp: Notes on Fashion.”
The “camp” theme was inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, “Notes on Camp” and is described as “a style that regards something as appealing because of its bad taste and ironic value.” The theme is representative of the museum’s “camp” costume exhibit of neon, flamboyant, and extravagant costumes. Nevertheless, this event hosted on the first Monday of May is a prime-time for fashion, so let’s take a look at the “campiest” fashion from last night.
