Marvel and Sony couldn’t come to an agreement on a new contract to keep Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It started when Marvel wanted a new contract where Marvel would keep the marketing but would also get 50 percent of movie profit. Sony declined the deal and offered their current deal again, their current contract had Marvel getting all the marketing but they only got 5 percent of the movie profit, to which Marvel declined. Both then proceeded to make various offers to each other but couldn’t reach an agreement. This led to Spider-Man no longer being allowed to be associated with Marvel.
