October 20, 2019
After a promising 3-1 start to their season, the York Dukes football team looked poised to return to the IHSA playoffs for the first time under coach Mike Fitzgerald. The team fell short last season finishing 4-5. But despite their strong start, the team has now dropped four in a row after Friday’s loss and will once again fall short from a playoff appearance.
They still managed to make it interesting as the game provided five lead changes (four in the second half) and four turnovers. The play of the game coming with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter on 3rd and 12 for the Dukes when junior quarterback Max Assaad passed to wide receiver Owen Pechous, behind the line of scrimmage, who then launched the ball downfield to running back Patrick Kastner for a touchdown.
