Holly Jolly Quizzes!

Ah, the holidays. Many of us celebrate with family next to a crackling fire, a honey baked ham, and our chihuahua in a dog sweater that we know he hates, but he’s too darn cute. I know I celebrate with the glitzy tree and carols, but how do you celebrate?
“Going to Macy’s in Chicago and eating breakfast under the tree with my whole family,” sophomore Sophie Marini said.
Whether it’s traditional or unique, or lowkey or the biggest moment of the year, it is special. To you, your family, and quite possibly your cats.
“When we’re done unwrapping presents, we take all the wrapping paper and put it in the bathtub so our cats can play in it for a few hours,” junior Katie McDonald said.
Even international clubs at York have their own way of celebrating inspired by the culture they represent.
“Every year they do a ‘Secret Senpai’, which is their version of a Secret Santa,” history and sociology teacher as well Japanese Culture and Animation Club sponsor Mr. Albert said. “After that, we have a party with lots of food and try and find a Christmas themed anime to watch – it’s harder than you’d think!”
While exploring how others in our school celebrate the holidays is great, there is a whole world out there preparing for their holiday festivities! What are you waiting for? After all the holidays are all about being together, caring for and about one another, and understanding people around you. Take this quiz to find out which international holiday tradition you should adopt this season!
