On Wednesday, October 29th Broadway composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul came to York High School to work with the drama and music programs.

Pasek and Paul have worked on multiple musicals including “Dogfight,” “A Christmas Story,” and “Edges.” They also composed the music for season two of the hit television series, “Smash.” They have received multiple awards including a Tony nomination for best score.

The duo first did a masterclass with drama club, working with three York students: Lena Stojiljkovic, Nathan Rago and Jackie Meyer. They then did a Q&A about composition with the music theory and music production classes.

After school, Pasek and Paul attended a rehearsal of York’s winter musical, “Dogfight.” Pasek and Paul are the composers of the musical, and York is the first high school to ever perform the musical. The cast discussed the show with them, and then performed and worked songs from the show.

An amazing experience for these students, drama club and music classes give their thanks to the incredible composition duo!
