Using over 20+ hours of unused sessions from “The Division Bell” Pink Floyd’s new LP, “Endless River” is markedly Pink Floydian. The final album, while one couldn’t call it “new”, is a beautiful display of the soft swirling part of Pink Floyd. Out of all 18 songs, only the last one, “Louder than Words”-which was also the single for the album- has lyrics. While the lyrics themselves are somewhat weak and almost cheesey for the profound Pink Floyd, the message is touching as a final declaration. The song tells us to value our friendships, relationships, ego and memories because our existence is impermanent. This speaks leagues as a parting message to the fans. If this album wasn’t the last album Pink Floyd will ever release it wouldn’t be anything too special, but since it is, I highly recommend it. “Endless River” has it’s shortcomings here and there but is a bittersweet final fanfare for the legendary band.
