13 things freshmen can’t have during PARCC testing
With PARCC beginning soon, here are a few reminders for students that will be testing of what not to bring:
1. Swahili-English Dictionary
You know, for that one question on the ELA section that asks about dashikis.
2. FLY pentop computer
Just in case 2005 comes back with a vengeance.
3. Personal document scanner
Because we all have that moment during a test when we think, “Man, I would love to scan this scantron!”
4. Your Algebra AB textbook
Okay, this one is fair.
5. A timeline of American history
I mean, if you aren’t asking yourself “When was the Battle of Little Big Horn?” during the math section, are you really even taking a test?
6. A model of the solar system
It is totally feasible that one could use the diameter of “Saturn” to find the sine of the triangle in question 25.
7. Maps of Quebec
After you figure out the year of Little Big Horn, “What is the largest river in Quebec?” comes immediately after.
8. Lyrics to Star-Spangled Banner
Don’t worry, the Pledge of Allegiance is cool.
9. Scented markers
Colored pencils, also fine though.
10. A test that is well-written
You can’t always get what you want…
11. Any book written in English
“Pobre Ana,” A-Okay.
12. “Life with Meningitis” pamphlet from the Nurse’s office
I mean, you can’t read anything else…
13. Zoobooks
Another way for the re-coming of 2005.
Happy testing, York!
