Boys Baseball seeks to improve on arduous beginning
As the York baseball team adjusts to the graduation of several key players from last year’s team, they are also facing some tough competition, resulting in an early season record of 1-10.
Despite this slow start, the boys are determined that their continued hard work and patience will start yielding more positive results. Junior Cam Fowler feels strongly that the team will find more success in the near future.
“Our hopes are high, we started off rough but we are starting to put things together,” said Fowler. “We’re a passionate team, and we all want to win.”
Coach David Kalal is also confident about the future success of the team and believes that the team will come together in the near future.
“Historically, we’ve started off slow the last six years, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t successful,” said Kalal.
“Last year we started off 1-7 but we were the WSC Silver Division Champions. This years team is a great group of boys, they’re all working really hard and have a really great chemistry. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season with these young men,” he said.
No matter what the team’s record, the team is glad to be a part of a great program and a great sport.
“In one sentence, York baseball is about dedication, pride, and respect for the game,” said junior David Miller.
