After winning their sectional at their home stadium, York’s boys track team finished their season 15th in state at Eastern Illinois in Charleston.

Senior Matt Plowman finished ninth in state in the 1,600-meter run.

The individual results were even higher in the sectional meet on May 22 at York.

In the long distance individual events, freshman Charlie Kern won the 800 meter dash, and senior Matt Plowman won the 1600 meter run.

“Charlie is a very talented runner and has been a huge help to the team this year,” said Matt Plowman.

In the sprinting events, senior Alex Teague placed first in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes.

“Alex Teague just destroyed everyone in both the the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, and single-handedly brought the team from not qualifying the 4×200 meter relay to actually qualifying for that event. He just did a phenomenal job,” said Head Coach Charlie Kern.

Senior David Prigg placed second in pole vault with a maximum jump height of 14 feet three inches.

Congratulations to Boys Track on an impressive season.
