Nike designs a signature shoe for Mr. Newton
On Saturday, October 10, the Nike corporation made their annual appearance to a practice of York’s prized sports team, Cross Country.
Every year, Nike sponsors the team by giving many of the runners free racing spikes, training shoes, and uniforms. However, this year they showed up with a gift for the head coach, Mr. Newton, as well.
Upon their arrival, after a brief welcome speech, they presented a gleaming wooden box with all of the years that the team has won a state championship inscribed.
Inside were several shirts reading Coach Newton and the crown gift, a customized pair Nike shoes reading York and Mr. Newton’s favorite saying “How sweet it is!” increasing his street cred to that of Lebron James and Michael Jordan.
