York Boys Soccer dribbles their way to playoffs

Head coach Majewski informs the varsity team on how to prepare for a Saturday tournament.

As the boys soccer season comes to an end, their last regular season game against Hinsdale South was a success. With a final score of 3-2, the boys won and are now looking forward to starting their playoff season. Ending the season with a score of 5-8-4, an average score compared to other schools, the York Boys Soccer team will have to give it their all if they want to advance in the playoffs.

“Throughout the season, we have had solid showings against some of the best teams in the state and have proved ourselves to be on par with the best competition Illinois can offer. I have a good feeling about our chances this year especially because of the way we played towards the end of the season,” said Seamus Ward, senior captain.

Even with a confident attitude about advancing through the playoffs, the York Soccer team doesn’t have any opportunity to slack off — especially because they only have a week to practice before their first playoff game of the season.

The team plans on fixing some of the problems they have been facing during their games: no communication, lack of wanting control of the ball, and aggression on the field.

“From now til our first playoff games, I plan on having difficult practices because I want the team to know that the playoff games are not going to be same as our past games this season, every team is going to come at us with more intensity, more skills, and more aggression,” said head coach Luzac Myjewski. They need to be prepared for what’s to come, otherwise we’ll get chewed up on the field.
