Lady Dukes golf season comes to an end
The Lady Dukes Golf season has concluded. Through many ups and downs, the team successfully sent one of their top players to state. York-Hi was able to sit down with Katiebeth Pasternock, a senior on the team, to talk about how the season went.
“We had a really great season this year,” said Pasternock. “Coach Tilden had her 100th win with the team which everyone was excited about! We had lots of fun at practices and meets this year and even had 3 girls go to sectionals (Christine Millins and Jenny Diamond) and Ellen Foley who also continued on to state.”
Pasternock is proud of the team as a whole and also the talented individual girls that contributed to this season.
“Ellen Foley is obviously a boss,” said Pasternock. “She improved so much from the beginning of freshman year until now from all of her hard work. Also Megan Backman who is one of our strongest players. She was injured at the beginning of the season but still came to every meet including sectionals and state.”
Pasternock expressed how the team is very supportive and spirits were always high throughout the season.
“In general, every girl who is on the Lady Dukes Golf team is so supportive, especially when you’re having a bad day. They’re always there to pick you back up,” said Pasternock.
She also specified on what the team as a whole has improved on as well and what the coach has accomplished.
“A highlight for the season would definitely be when Mrs. Tilden got her 100th win with the team,” said Pasternock. “We were so happy that she reached her goal! Along with that I think everyone on the team accomplished a milestone in their golf game. Whether it was improving their handicap or medaling in a meet, everyone improved.”
Pasternock has been on the golf team since her freshman year and is sad to see her final season come to an end. However, with everything that the team has accomplished this season, she is happy to have it end on a positive note. She couldn’t be prouder of her teammates and hopes that the Lady Dukes Golf team has many successful years to come.
