Johnny P. vs Krampus: The Weigh In

Ah, “Krampus”, how thee doesn’t get enough love from people. Well, look on the bright side: Michael Dougherty, the director of “Superman Returns”, “X Men 2”, and “Trick R Treat,” is bringing you to the silver screen.

Krampus, for those who do not know, is an ancient goat demon from Germanic folklore — a darker version of Santa Claus. While Jolly ol’ St. Nick spreads joy and happiness, Krampus takes a different approach by kidnapping children, torturing them, and using his iconic burch stick to beat them.

In this upcoming holiday horror flick, the family of Max Engel, played by Emjay Anthony, is a young boy who has grown cynical of Christmas due to his family reaching a “Simpsons” level of dysfunction. As a result, he tosses his letters to Santa out the window.

In doing this, Max unwittingly summons Krampus, who burns rubber, speeding like a demonic Ferrari, to their home. Krampus brings his servants — a jester with a split open jaw, a glass eyed teddy bear, and a demonic cherub — along for the ride via snowstorm, cutting the power to the entire town and ultimately forcing the townspeople, namely the family, to survive by relying on each other.

There could be more that could be said, but you need to see it for yourself to believe it.

“Krampus” comes out on December 4th.

After all, nothing brings in the Christmas spirit like a demonic goat, right?
