Starting the season out right

The York Dukes Lacrosse Team is looking to bounce back from a difficult 2015 season. After winning conference and making it past the first round in the playoffs, the team was eliminated by St. Vider.

“We want to make it to the playoffs again this year, and there’s nothing stopping us. We have great players all around, and I know we can get there,” said Coach Don Canfield.

York participates in one of the higher ranked west suburban conference. Teams such as Culver Academy, OPRF, Lyons Township, make their road to the playoffs challenging.

After graduating ten seniors last year, the team’s returning players have big shoes to fill. Despite this, new captains are taking charge and leading the team in the right direction.

“I think this will be one of the best year’s in York’s history,”  said junior Pierceson Mapes.

The Boys Lacrosse Team started their season Mar. 23, with a 13-5 win against Wheaton Warrenville South.

“It’s always a great feeling starting off the season with a win. Couldn’t be happier,” said senior Tommy Angelos.

The Dukes hope to continue a winning streak with an upcoming game against IC this Thursday.
