Do students think their zodiac signs reflect their personalities?
This year a “new zodiac sign”, the Ophiuchus, was added to the existing 12 signs. Because of this addition, the existing signs moved dates. People began to panic when they discovered their sign (based on their birthday) had changed. To their relief, however, the “new sign” has recently been proven to be a hoax.
Considering the sudden interest in zodiac signs, I decided to go around and ask York students if they think their zodiac sign reflects their personalities. I received the following responses…
Sabrina Cintron, junior
Aries: outgoing, bossy, confident
“Yes, because an Aries is usually described as quick tempered, and I don’t play games. I’m usually very straightforward.”
Kelly Phelps, senior
Taurus: stubborn, responsible, reliable
“I’m definitely a Taurus. They are very stubborn and I am… very stubborn. I feel like Taurus’s get along with everybody and I’m very social. I’d say I get along with everybody! I don’t like conflict, but if there is a conflict, I will resolve it.”
Ava Euteneuer, sophomore
Gemini: sociable, curious, flighty
“Yes, because I have no attention span and Geminis are flighty.”

Cancer: caring, sensitive, moody
“Yes, when you first meet me I’m the nicest person, just like my sign says. But not gonna lie…I get SUPER moody.”

Leo: outgoing, natural leader, vain
“Yes, because I’m very outgoing. I’m also a leader.”

Virgo: intelligent, loyal, flighty
“Virgos are very adaptable, analytical, and they pay attention to detail. I have a lot of friends, but I don’t have a lot of close friends so I can move within groups; I don’t have a solid spot.”

Libra: laid-back, clever, bossy
“Yes. I think so because I can be very controlling when I want to be, but I’m also pretty easy going.”

Scorpio: independent, dedicated, stubborn
“Yes, definitely. I am dedicated and driven with many things, just like my sign says.”

Sagittarius: direct, exciting, irresponsible
“Yes. I’m really honest when people ask me a question, but sometimes I’m a little too honest…and that becomes irresponsible.”

Capricorn: sensible, serious, distrusting
“No. I am not bossy, serious, or distrusting. I’m very trusting and loyal, unlike many of the Capricorn traits.”

Aquarius: sociable, clever, stubborn
“Yeah, pretty much. I’m pretty social, but when I get in an argument, I’m really stubborn.”
