Italian Club takes victory three years running
During homecoming week each year at York High School, many of the clubs, fall sports, organizations, etc. participate in decorating a designated hallway in accordance to the planned theme. This year marked the third year in a row that Italian Club has won “Most Authentic Hallway”. Their hallway was filled with flashing lights and signs, streamers, posters, pictures, etc. that outlined the theme of the “Roaring 20s” while also incorporating some Italian qualities.
“Winning isn’t the only thing we are focused on when we decorate-even though that is definitely a factor,” laughs Signora Manfredini, one of the leaders of the club. “It’s a great way for the students to bond have fun together at the beginning of the year.”
However, Italian Club is also filled with many more fun and authentic activities ranging from bocce ball tournaments, interactive crafts, and even a panini and cannoli making party! The best part about this club is that you don’t have to be Italian or even take Italian at York to participate. It has a very carefree, welcoming, and easy going atmosphere that draws a number of students in.
“Italian Club is a great way to have fun with your friends and learn some of the culture and language of Italy,” said Signorina DelPercio, the second leader of the club. “It’s a great opportunity these students have here at York!”
So next Tuesday at 3:15 make sure you come out to see what it’s really like to be Italian.
