Sleigh All Day With Holiday Faves

As York prepares for finals and the countdown to winter break, students are eager to take moments to stop and enjoy the holiday season through this stressful time. The holiday season is approaching rapidly and many students have different ways they celebrate the season. Since it is “the most wonderful time of the year” students take a chance to enjoy all the festive activities they can over winter break. We conducted a survey to see what York students enjoy the most over the holidays.

The most popular activity among York students was making Christmas cookies taking 74.3% of the vote followed by Christmas gift shopping at 65.7%.

Not only do students enjoy the activities, many kids celebrate the season by listening to their beloved Christmas songs. The all time favorite holiday song for York students is “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey. That swept 74.3% of the votes following with “Jingle Bell Rock” with 57.1% of students votes. Closely behind is “Last Christmas” with 47.1% of student votes.

Music isn’t the only thing that gets kids in the spirit; students love chowing down/sipping on holiday foods and drinks. The top food/drink at York this holiday season is hot chocolate, winning with 71.4% of the students’ votes. Peppermint hot chocolate came in second with 40% of the votes, and closely behind was gingerbread cookies with 32.1% of the student votes.

While sipping their hot chocolate, many York students are looking forward to binge watching shows on Netflix this winter break. “Stranger Things” won with almost half of the votes at 48.6%. “Friends” came in a close second with 48.5% of the votes followed by “The Office” with 42.9% of the votes.
