FAW doubles the fun on its second day
After an exciting first day of Fine Arts Week, the amazing performances and events continued this Tuesday. The talent shows ran throughout the day in the auditorium, while more events happened around the school, like the art fair and smaller demonstrations in the music department.
Whether listening to their peers play music, watch them dance, or getting their picture taken by photographers in the commons, it was another fun day of art appreciation at York High School.
A Capella Morning

A capella performs “Bad” by Michael Jackson for students walking in the door at the beginning of school.
Ya Like Jazz?

The College of DuPage Jazz Ensemble was well welcomed in the band room today during fourth period.

The ensemble covered many jazz standards including a Dinah Washington style cover of “Manhattan” featuring their singer.

The ensembles director joins the students on his trumpet to bring a new layer of sound to the song “Bags Groove.”
Art in the Commons

Junior Jared Frank worked at the henna station during his lunch periods.


At the hand build ceramics station students created sculptures of all kinds.

Mural club organized a collaborative booth in the commons.

Talent Show Takes Over

Senior Madds Buckley opened the talent show with an original song.

Junior David Hansen performed a stand-up comedy set along with being an MC in the talent show.

Senior Nicole Polizzi belts out a note in her performance of “Prayer” by Kesha.

Terrence Thomas performed a dance he choreographed.

Seniors Garrett Moran, Matt Fanelli and Jimmy Chaudoin played a rendition of a slow ballad on three acoustic guitars and a harmonica.
Jazz and A Capella Come Together

The York Jazz Band performed a range of jazz pieces for York students to enjoy at the a capella and jazz band show eighth period.

Senior Chuck Miller plays a solo on the saxophone.
