As the school year is ending, many sports are coming to an end, and for most seniors, this is the last time they will play on the court, field, or track. Senior Scott Tucker, however, is finishing one baseball journey and beginning a new one. Next fall, Tucker is headed to Heartland Community College to continue his baseball career as a pitcher for The Hawks.

Tucker’s love and dedication to the sport has encouraged him to stay on the field and continue pitching. While he is sad his time at York is coming to an end, he is very excited to start the new baseball chapter.

“I am definitely going to miss playing for York and all the guys, but I am really excited to play for Heartland, and experience baseball at the college level,” Tucker said.

Tucker’s baseball career wasn’t always easy; he did experience some small setbacks. From his broken ankle freshman year to his broken wrist junior year, Tucker had to take some time off the mound, but he wasn’t letting that keep him away from the game.

“It was really hard for me to not be able to play when I broke my wrist and ankle, but I loved baseball too much to let that stop me from getting back on the field,” Tucker said.

Tucker winds up for a pitch during club season. July 8th 2016.

Throughout the years, Tucker has received unconditional love and support from his family on and off the field. Without their support he wouldn’t be where he is in his baseball career. One family member in particular, Tucker’s father, has dedicated a lot of time practicing with him over the years.

“I’d like to thank my Dad for always making me go the the field, and throw with him regardless of the weather or time,” Tucker said. “He always wanted me to practice as much as I could.”

While Tucker is excited about college and playing baseball next year, he is still sad that to leave his York family, but they have been so supportive of him not only this year but every year.

“I am definitely going to miss playing with Scott, but I know he will do great next year,” senior, and teammate Adam LaBarge said.

Scott will be missed next year, but he is onto another chapter and will continue to succeed in a sport that he loves.
