Girls’ Track and Field

As the signs of spring slowly begin to display themselves in Elmhurst, spring sports are finally in full swing. Specifically, after proving themselves throughout the indoor season, the Girl’s Track and Field team is fully prepared to increase their standings as they prepare for the conference, sectional, and state meet.

“Our team this year has a great amount of depth,” said Head Coach Shulte. “We aren’t just a team that is composed of fast sprinters, we have girls that consistently place in our field events each meet.”

After competing in a highly competitive invite on April 12 at Homewood Flossemore, several girls placed in the top five, including meet champion Abby Waltz in the pole vault.

“This year has been a great year for the team as a whole,” said junior Abby Waltz. “I think we found each other’s strengths and used that to correspond with our own individual abilities and strengths.”

As of right now, there are several girls on the team who are in a great spot to qualify for the state meet in May.

The next varsity invite the team competes in is Thursday April 17 at Downers Grove North.
