Netflix announces “Full House” revival
Is Netflix the second coming of Christ, in streaming form? All in one year the popular streaming service announced that not only were they going to add America’s favorite group of “Friends” to their collection of television shows, but now America’s beloved family “Full House,” causing millennials to go in a craze.
John Stamos, otherwise known as the hunky Uncle Jesse on “Full House,” was the first to break the news on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that Netflix bought a 13 episode revival- “Fuller House”- that stars favorite “Full House” characters: sisters DJ Tanner, Stephanie Tanner, and neighbor Kimmy Gibbler all grown up and moved in together to help widowed DJ Tanner raise her two children.
York students who grew up watching the beloved reruns on channels like Nick at Night and ABC Family were shocked hearing the announcement.
“I was super excited when I heard about the sequel,” said junior Audrey Sadowicz. “That show was such a big part of my childhood and knowing there’s going to be a reunion brings back good memories from when I was younger.”
While it can be difficult to have success on sequels to popular TV shows, “Full House” fans are staying optimistic.
“It’s such a classic, so it’s going to be great to have it back, even though it won’t necessarily be the same,” said senior Chris Geib.
Even after twenty years since “Full House” went off air, the show still lives on in the hearts of millenials.
“The show was just so relatable, it was just your average family living in San Francisco with just enough excitement and weirdness to keep all the viewers interested. Plus the show was made for everyone, the audience wasn’t aimed for one specific age group. No matter how old or young you were you could genuinely enjoy each episode,” said Sadowicz.
