Decision Day wrap up: York seniors excited for college

Duke Decision Day was bitter-sweet for seniors at York as they signed their colored Post-It note with their name and college and posted it on the map declaring where they have committed for the next chapter of their lives.

Next fall, instead of walking the halls of York, seniors will be immersed in a new environment, a new home which senior Leah Hilgenkamp cannot help but be excited for next year.

“I’m looking forward to the academics, student life, getting involved in different organizations, and studying what [I] really want to study,” said Hilgenkamp.

Even though leaving to go to college is what every senior dreams of once senioritis kicks in, they will certainly miss various things about their time at York.

“I’m going to miss my basketball team and a lot of the friends that I have made over the past four years,” said senior Clayton Lyons.

“I’ll miss being apart of Student Council and planning all of the fun activities,” said Senior President Peter Varughese.

The long and never-ending application process in applying to colleges was worth it, and as senior Megan Flynn would advise, incoming seniors should start as soon as possible.

“This is the one thing you shouldn’t procrastinate on. Work on your essays and put a lot of effort into your applications. Don’t wait until the last minute,” said Flynn.
