York-hi had a chance to sit down with some of the players of the Varsity Lady Dukes Golf Team and talk about their upcoming season. Players that were interviewed were Megan Backman and Lauren Cairo.

York-hi: Why did you join the golf team here at York?

Backman: I joined the team because I wanted to get involved at York and I heard that the coaches for the girls golf team were the best.

York-hi: What have you done to prepare for this upcoming season?

Backman: Over the summer I played in multiple tournaments, also I sometimes would get together with all of the senior girls on the team and practice together.

York-hi: What are some personal goals for the team this year?

Cairo: Personally, I want to make everyone on the team feel welcome and happy and love golf and want to improve. This team is a really special one at York and it has a sense of family that a lot of other teams don’t get.

York-hi: Compared to last year, how does the team look?

Cairo: Last year we were good but I really think the new freshman this year have added some much needed benefits to our group. Also, the new dynamic of the team and just the way we seem to work this year is awesome and I think we’ve grown a lot.
