York holds mock elections for students

York students sign up to vote by the South Atrium stairwell.

UPDATE:

A total of 1545 students participated in the elections.

On the Republican side, 321 students voted for Donald Trump and 147 students voted for Marco Rubio.

On the Democratic side, an overwhelming 676 students voted for Bernie Sanders whereas 170 students cast their vote for Hillary Clinton.

On Friday, Feb. 12, York students from all grades participated in a mock election located on the third floor near the South Atrium.

Students who participated in the event were given a ballot similar to that of a real one to simulate the actual process of voting.

Each student received a ballot and was given the choice to either vote Democrat or Republican.

Then, the ballots were carefully divided into their appropriate category.

Once the mock elections finished, the Young Politicians Club counted each ballot to determine a winner.
