Netflix makes a friendly announcement

I’ll be there for you…on Netflix? The company announced the hit 90’s sitcom “Friends” will be back hanging out on the infamous tacky orange couch, streaming to millions of Netflix accounts.

The news broke on Twitter, October 15, when the company tweeted, “They will all be there for you, January 1, 2015” with a video of the “I’ll Be There For You” song, famously known as the show’s catchy theme song. The tweet received over 13 thousand retweets from “Friends” fans across the nation.

When junior Lauren Cairo saw the tweet appear on her Twitter feed, she was filled with joy.

“I was so excited and happy. I have been waiting for this moment forever,” said Cairo.

Fans, like freshmen Dede Stone, will be able to binge-watch all 236 episodes of the show on Netflix, from the first episode, “The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate,” when Rachel Green runs into the coffee shop in her wedding dress, to, “The Last One” when the six New Yorkers have their last cup of coffee at Central Perk together.

“People will finally have the opportunity to watch episodes in order,” said Stone.

Reruns are played nightly on popular networks like TBS and Nick at Night, but sophomore Maddie Lacek argues that Netflix will be a better place to view the show.

“There are some episodes that are not on TV as much, so if I wanted to see them, I’ll have full access to them now,” said Lacek.

Senior Jamie Kovatchis and junior Bridgette Strawbridge are among many Friends fanatics who have seen all ten seasons, yet still plan to rewatch them all over again when the show streams on Netflix.

“The episodes get funnier and funnier every time I watch them,” said Kovatchis.

“It will always be a classic, no matter how many times I see it,” said Strawbridge.

For die-hard “Friends” fans, this may seem overdue, but timing is everything.  With the release of the iconic sitcom on New Year’s Day, it will be the perfect time to snuggle up on a cold winter day and watch commercial-free episodes on Netflix of the six best friends that you wish you had.
