York Hockey Continues to Cruise in the SHL

York Hockey is off to a tear this season, especially this past wednesday the 19th of january. The Dukes hockey team played Glenbrook North Spartans in a SHL(Scholastic Hockey League) match up where the dukes played the second game of their three game series versus the Spartans.  The Dukes got off to a striking lead early with goals in the first period by Eli Mauer, Nico Ptak and Nicholas Composono. In the second Period the dukes cooled down a touch but another goal by Eli Mauer assisted by Charles Colantonio. In the third the Spartans popped one in but was answered by Junior Frank Rosa. I had an opportunity to speak with Frank after the game: “Good game overall we came out from the start and we played all three periods and we got on them early which kinda kept it rolling. We gave a glimpse in the third period but we tightened it up. Overall we played good in our D zone and buried our chances” – Frank Rosa

With the win Wednesday the Dukes clinched the SHL playoffs! The Dukes are currently 3rd in the SHL standings following two more victories over St. Viator and Glenbrook South over the weekend. Hopeful to see this Duke team keep rolling with their winning record of 15-7-1.
