Kellyann Gallagher is a senior at York and happy to be back for her second year on the York-hi staff. Here at York, she makes the costumes for the Drama Department. In her free time, she enjoys yoga classes, walking around the fabulous city of Chicago, being part of Fashion Ambassadors Nordstrom program, and taking cool photos.

I have always been into cosmetology stuff, but I feel like I wouldn’t want to do that my whole life. Even with the fashion thing I’m still iffy about it because I feel like there are so many things I like to do, but I don’t know if I can make a living out of it. Though, I think I would regret not going into fashion or not finishing cosmetology even if it’s something that I don’t end up doing my whole life.

What was one thing you regret in high school? I would say that a part of me regrets basing so much of how I feel about myself because of what people perceived me as. Like kind of at times I felt like who I was, was determined by my friends and people in my grade rather than what my thoughts and beliefs were.

I travel a lot. Where have you been? England, France, Ireland, Whales, Belgium, and Italy. What was your favorite place? I only remember Italy. I was a freshman. What was it like? Venice was so incredibly different. I was eating at a little cafe near a river and a guy pulled up in his boat to pick his kids up for tennis!

Who influences you the most in your life? Fashion designers like Alexander McQueen and Chanel. How have these designers been an influence in your life? They have helped me explore my style and help me dress more for myself. Do you want to go into fashion? Yes. What will you do to influence kids through your clothing? One of our best days ever was this day when we were in the city and it was super windy outside. The buildings being so close together made it even windier. When we were coming home from a practice at Second City, we killed time waiting for our train by playing in the wind for like an hour and a half.

Who is the most important person in your life? My mom. What has your mom done to make her so important to you?
