Crowd gathers at the Bud Light stage to watch Lorde perform on Friday, August 1

Sweaty half clothed teenagers crammed into an already overfilled train on a sweltering day in August. This can only describe one event: Lollapalooza.

Festivals have been becoming more popular all across the world and here in Elmhurst things were no different. Hurds of York students waited at the Metra platform in Elmhurst for the overloaded train that would take them to Chicago. There they would enjoy a three day jam packed weekend of music.

One of the fan favorites this year was head liner Eminem. Some people even camped out all day at the stage to see him.

Eminem was his “favorite of the whole weekend.” Senior Joey Hayes said. Which is saying something because, on average, a person will see 15-18 bands over the course of the whole weekend. Other favorites were the English pop group The 1975 and Chvrches, an indie electric group.

Though every Lolla goer wishes they could be at two stages at once, it is just not possible. Tough choices are made that you may later regret. Some regrets resonated with some York students about the weekend.

“I wish I would have gotten to see more Arctic Monkeys,” junior Lauren Cairo said.

Arctic Monkeys played against Eminem and Zedd, a tough call for many. Others found it painful to have to pick a band to see.

“ Portugal The Man and Chvrches was the worst conflict of the weekend,” senior Kate Leonard said.

But no matter who you saw or didn’t see, Lollapalooza always will be remembered as a great time surrounded by friends and music.
