Top 5 Anticipated Games of 2015

  •  Star Wars: Battlefront-  “Star Wars: Battlefront” is a reboot of the popular “Star Wars” battle simulator franchise from the early-mid 2000’s. This game was in production hell for many years, and many doubted it would ever be released after its developer, Pandemic Studios, was closed down in 2009. In 2013 it was announced at E3 to the squealing masses of nostalgic Star wars everywhere. Fans are both excited and fearful for this reboot, as many fear that DICE will just make a game that is basically “Battlefield 4” with a “Star Wars” setting. It is slated for release holiday 2015.

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt- Based on the popular Polish fantasy novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, these games have gained a large cult following. With a claim that the game will be twenty-percent larger than the massive fantasy game, “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim”, it has turned the heads of many other fantasy fans as well. This game will be released May 19, 2015.

  • Tom Clancy’s: The Division- One of the first games to be revealed for the Xbox One and Playstation 4, gamers have been anticipating its release ever since. This game is based on the premise that the world we live in today is complex, and therefore fragile. When a lethal disease is released in the USA, the government collapses in just five days. Set in the aftermath in a desolate New York City, the player must fight his/her way through looters and gangs that developed after the catastrophe. “The Division” will be released at the end the year 2015.

  • The Order: 1886- Developer: Ready at Dawn, SCE Santa Monica Studio. Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment. Genre: Action/Adventure 3rd Person shooter. This new Sony Playstation 4 exclusive has been anticipated since it was revealed at E3 in 2013. The Order is anticipated to have a gritty cinematic story and dark victorian environment. Many hope for as emotional a story as the critically acclaimed Sony exclusive from 2013, “The Last of Us”. “The Order: 1886” will be ready for purchase Feb. 20, 2015.

  • Halo 5: Guardians- Developer: 343 Industries. Publisher: Microsoft Studios. Genre: First Person Shooter. With the blunder of the Master Chief Collection, all eyes are on Halo developer 343 Industries to make a game that actually works online when it is released. Not only does 343 need to release a completely functional game, they need to impress the Halo fans they lost when they released Halo 4 to a mixed fan response. A solid population of Halo fan’s believed that 343 attempted to “Call of Duty-afy” the game by adding customizable loadouts. Even with all of these negative factors playing into the release of Halo 5: Guardians, the multiplayer beta that ran from the end of December to January was phenomenal. Overall, this game may be the redeeming factor for the hapless 343 Industries. “Halo 5: Guardians” will be available for purchase holiday season 2015.
