Senior Sami Ayash runs to bring the Dukes to a tie game Friday night against Willowbrook. After a long and aggressive game the Dukes went on to win 25-23 to beat the unbeaten Willowbrook varsity football team. The whole year weve been on a thin thread and didnt know if we were going to be able to finish a full season, Ayash said. With that problem our team still worked hard at all times on and off the field and gave it 100%.

Senior Jeffery Grace III jumps up in an attempt to disrupt a field goal by Willowbrook. The game was back and forth the entire nightbut ended with an exciting 25-23 victory for the Dukes on their senior night.

Some form of normalcy was felt by students who were allowed to attend the football game against Willowbrook with their tickets. The game ended in a victory for the Dukes and the excitement was felt throughout the stands despite the noticeably smaller crowd than the football team was used to.

Junior Ange Cervantes helped to organize the products on the tables. With tables for canned goods, pasta and beans, feminine and personal products, breakfast foods and more, the residents were pleased with the array.

As a junior, Grace Maniola took the role of a captain alongside graduate Emilie Sadowicz. The two cheered at the first game of the 2019-2020 season at Schaumburg in their leis for the Hawaiian themed football game. “Even when Grace wasn’t captain, she still found ways to show leadership in practice and competitions,” junior Bree Spallone said.

Haley Brown smiled on the sidelines of the first football game against Schaumburg during the 2019-2020 season on August 30, 2019. Now, as a senior varsity cheerleader, Brown reflected on her time as a member of the cheer program as her season remains suspended. “I found some of my closest friends through York cheer,” Brown said. “I’ll always cherish all of the memories we have together.”
